IWF Chicago CEO Dorri McWhorter was featured on this month’s cover of FW Magazine for a profile story on her leadership as CEO of YWCA in the metropolitan area, and her trajectory to success.
The story recognized McWhorter’s accomplishments in creating opportunities such as the YWCA of Metropolitan Chicago’s Developing Digital Diversity (3D) program which teaches web and mobile app development to girls out of the local entrepreneurial tech incubator 1871.
Under McWhorter’s dynamic leadership, the YWCA launched YShop.org, which sells goods and services from businesses that support the YWCA’s Mission. McWhorter’s YWCA is also partnering with Uber to place mothers in jobs as drivers, citing the benefit of flexible hours that work well with childcare scheduling.
On the topic, McWhorter told FWs Jennifer Smith Tapp “We see childcare providers as instrumental to the entire ecosystem of women in the workplace.” McWhorter says. “Clearly, women who have children cannot work if they do not have appropriate care or educational opportunities for their children, right?”
