Evelyn Johnson of IWF Idaho, professor of special education and executive director of the Lee Pesky Learning Center at Boise State University, has been awarded a Fulbright grant to implement a program called ‘Every Child Ready to Learn’ (ECRL) in Doha, Qatar. The program was developed at the Lee Pesky Learning Center and is titled ‘Every Child Ready to Learn.’
ECRL is a book of activities to help children develop early literacy and math skills and is currently available in English and Spanish. The book contains practical and effective tools for early childhood educators and parents to prepare kids to be successful in school.
The Fulbright Program is a program of competitive, merit-based grants for international educational exchange. “The goal is to better understand how literacy in Arabic develops and how it is best taught to children at risk for poor literacy outcomes,” said Johnson. The ECRL program will be adapted for Arabic in partnership with experts at Qatar University.
