IWF Canada – Calgary member Mary Rozsa de Coquet was featured in Canada’s Globe and Mail last week for her innovative efforts in the Alberta arts scene through the Rozsa Award for Excellence in Arts Management.
Rozsa de Coquet, a recipient of the Order of Canada, has led the Rozsa Foundation for the past 16 years and plans to retire later this month. During her tenure at the foundation, Rozsa de Coquet created the Rozsa Award for Excellence in Arts Management to honor arts managers for their contributions to the artistic community. In addition to financial support, the award also includes professional development and mentorship.
When asked to speak about the guiding principles of the foundation, Rozsa de Coquet spoke of lessons she learned from her parents, “You always help someone, you’re always involved in the community, you always worked hard and you always gave your best. And I think,” she says, “those are also hallmarks of the foundation and they came directly from Mom and Dad.”
