Journalist, producer, and IWF Lebanon member Sahar Baassiri was appointed today as Lebanon’s new UNESCO ambassador. The announcement arrives parrallel with news that Lebanon has also appointed its first woman, Dr. Amal Mudallali, as UN ambassador.
Sahar Baassiri is the author of the 2009 books “Lebanon on Hold” and “The Wandering Arabs,” and is the former president of the Women’s International Forum (WIF) at the United Nations.
She is based in New York City and is the former United Press International (UPI), Beirut correspondent and columnist for An-Nahar newspaper.
