IWF Michigan member Faye Alexander Nelson, vice president of public affairs for DTE Energy and the president of DTE Energy Foundation, received the Jeffery W. Barry Award for Educational Excellence & Community Service from Walsh College this month. The award is bestowed upon individuals with a record of exemplary service to their communities, commitment to education and for outstanding achievements in their chosen professions.
Nelson works on projects transforming the Detroit community, including the redevelopment of the Detroit riverfront and leading the DTE Foundation’s investments in education, arts and culture and the development of sustainable environments.
She serves on the board of directors for Compuware Corporation, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the Henry Ford Health System and Health Network Board, Midtown Detroit, Inc., and the Parade Company. She is also a member of Leadership Detroit, the State Bar of Michigan, Life Member of the Sixth Circuit Judicial Conference, Detroit Athletic Club and the Economic Club of Detroit.
The awards dinner is scheduled for November 18 at the MGM Grand Detroit.
