IWF Nevada, Newmont Mines and the Nevada Mining Association hosted an exclusive tour for women this summer, offering an insider’s perspective on the mining industry.
Newmont Mines is one of the world’s largest gold producers, and their Nevada operations consist of 2.8 million acres. The company has a focus on conservation and their global presence includes operations in North America, South America, Australia and Africa.
Members and tour attendees accessed underground mines and events were presided over by former Nevada Supreme Court Justice, and IWF member, Miriam Shearing (Nevada’s first woman to serve in that office). The tour closed with networking opportunities with industry leaders, local-government representatives and elected officials.
