U.S. Science Envoy Dr. Jane Lubchenco is visiting South Africa July 18-22 in support of President Barack Obama’s initiative to strengthen the United States’ science and education relationships overseas. Dr. Lubchenco is serving as the first U.S. Science Envoy for the Ocean. During her stay in South Africa, she will engage with university students, as well as leaders in government, academia and the private sector in Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, and Pretoria who seek effective solutions to shared environmental concerns.
Sue Hildick has been selected as one of 24 professionals from business, non-profit, academia, philanthropy, and government sectors to participate in the Presidio Institute Fellows program. The program, formerly known as the Cross Sector Leadership Fellows Program, is a yearlong, multicity initiative created in partnership with BlackRock, McKinsey, the United States Office of Personnel Management, and the White House Office of Social Innovation and Civic Participation. The goal of the program is to further develop the capacity of visionary executives to solve the complex challenges facing society in the 21st century.
IWF Texas member Jane Macon visited Portland and spent time with Susan Sokol Blosser at her winery. Jane also enjoyed meals with Jan Robertson and Kimberly Cooper-Jaqua.
