International Women’s Forum President Teresa V-F Weintraub concluded her tour of Argentina and Chile this month, connecting with South American forum leadership on development, sustainability and issues critical to women’s leadership today in the region.
Weintraub congratulated members of IWF Chile on their 2016 reincorporation along with forum President Drina Rendic, who runs Chile’s National Museum of Women in the Arts. During the trip she was interviewed by Chilean publication El Mercurio, discussing her keys to success as Managing Director of Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith Inc.
Weintraub shared her thoughts and vision for leadership and IWF’s approach to engaging the next generation of women leaders through the Leadership Foundation Fellows Program and EY Women Athletes Business Network programs, which both contain mentoring components designed to empower elite women on the rise.
“I like the word ‘sponsor’ more than the word ‘mentor.’ A mentor gives advice, a sponsor takes you by the hand and goes with you.”
The journey included official meetings with IWF Argentina President Silvia Fesquet, forum members, IWF Ecuador President Maria Patiño de Macias and 2016 IWF International Hall of Fame Honoree and Foreign Minister of Argentina Susanna Malcorra.
