In honor of Earth Day, Nadezhda Belkova (IWF Russia), Chairman of the Board, Inter-Regional Social Organization of Disabled Persons-Pilgrim, organized a special project, “We Are The Children of the Earth” to coincide with strategic roundtable meetings held by government, business, and NGO leaders. The meetings were convened to discuss a clean and pure future for the world.
At noon throughout Moscow, the bells of the Orthodox churches rang in unison while bell ringers were positioned across the city to reflect the importance of peace, joy, unity and community for all. The event also included a formal “Peace to the World” program featuring a flash mob with the participation of children with disabilities, the launch of hundreds of white balloons, and a performance by actors with disabilities.
In conjunction with the event, the book For the Sake of Life on Earth which features advice for future generations from famous Russians was presented to Russian President Vladimir Putin and the United Nations.
