On May 20, 2017, President Mildred García served as the commencement speaker for Pepperdine University’s Graduate School of Education and Psychology and received the University’s highest honor, the Honorary Doctor of Laws degree.

Deborah Flint, Renee Fraser & Betsy Berkhemer Credaire
Members Deborah Flint, Renee Fraser and Betsy Berkhemer-Credaire will be honored on June 16th at the Beverly Hilton by the Los Angeles Chapter of NAWBO, the National Association of Women Business Owners, 11:30 to 2 pm, before an audience of business, government and nonprofits. Deborah, CEO of Los Angeles World Airports, will receive the “Trailblazer” award. Betsy and Renee are named “Legends of Leadership” as inspirational role models for women entrepreneurs. Both are past presidents of the NAWBO-LA Chapter in the early 2000’s, and together they hosted an hour-long radio show for five years on KFWB called “Unfinished Business” now on hiatus since the station was sold by CBS. Renee has owned Fraser Communications, a full-service advertising/marketing agency for two decades. Stacy attended the 20th annual Women Presidents Organization conference in Orlando, FL as a representative of her Los Angeles WPO chapter.
Additionally, she was selected one of Los Angeles’ Top Women Attorneys by the Daily Journal (May 24 issue, page 42)
And, lastly, Stacy led a distinguished panel discussing “The Career Trajectory of Women in Law” at the Daily Journal’s first annual Conference on Women in Law, May 23, 2017 in Beverly Hills.

Women Against Gun Violence held their annual brunch on Sunday, May 7 th where I was honored to be the emcee of the event.
On Saturday May 15 th the City of West Hollywood hosted their 11 th annual Women’s Leadership Conference (which I co-founded with Mayor John Heilman eleven years ago) and I was the moderator of an afternoon Leadership Session: Democracy Now: Local Leaders Speak Out. Had a lively and informative conversation with Shikha Bhatnager of South Asian Network, Diana Colin, from CHIRLA, Emiliana Guereca, organizer of the Los Angeles Women’s March, Alex Mohajer of Bros4America and Allison VanKuiken, of Equality California.
I was honored at a Tribute Dinner for Latino Pioneers in the Media, at Los Angeles Plaza de Cultura y Artes on May 25th. I was the first Mexican American woman to appear on a network affiliate, KNBC/TV, in the important Los Angeles market. I guess I am getting to be an “Oldie But Goodie”!. I also was co-founder of the first television station in the nation owned and operated by Mexican American women. The Y in KCMY stands for the first letter in my name.

LA Trusteeship members Ambassador Linda Yang and Elizabeth Harrington, and New York IWF member Shirley Young headed the C 100 conference in Washington May 18-19. C 100 is the elite organization of leading Chinese born American citizens. Other well known members include Judy Chu, Elaine Chao, I M Pei, Yoyo Ma. The conference honored Chinese Ambassador to the US, Cui Tiankai for is outstanding contributions to US-China relations.
