Leadership Foundation Fellow Christine Hanson has been named the new head of the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission. A lawyer and diplomat who is currently Minister-Counsellor, Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs at the Embassy of Canada. Duties include managing Canada’s relationship with the U.S. Congress and U.S. sub-federal governments.
Hanson is a native of Halifax, Nova Scotia and obtained her law degree from Dalhousie University. She will assume her role as CEO and Director of the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission on February 8th.
Hanson received the Building a Better World alumni award from Dalhousie in 2014. She recently worked with the women’s network at the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development, to create a course on advancing women in leadership at the Foreign Service Institute.
