Linda Rabbitt, member and former president of IWF Washington, DC and CEO of rand* construction corporation is to receive the Horatio Alger Award for 2016. The Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans, Inc., is a nonprofit educational organization which honors the achievements of outstanding individuals and encourages youth to pursue their dreams through higher education.
Linda Rabbitt has been selected for membership with the Horatio Alger Association for her demonstrated commitment to philanthropy and higher education and her exemplification of the values of hard work, dedication and perseverance.
In 1989, Ms. Rabbitt founded rand* construction corporation which specializes in commercial construction. Ms. Rabbitt is a trailblazer for women in the construction industry, growing her company from a small-scale operation to a national general contractor with revenues of $300 million annually. Ms. Rabbitt raises funds for My Sister’s Place, a program for battered women and has served on many boards. In addition to her Horatio Alger award she has been inducted into the Washington Business Hall of Fame, has received the Distinguished Entrepreneurial Achievement award from GWU, and was awarded Washingtonian of the Year for her exemplary community service.
