Bobbie Racetta, a 2021-2022 IWF Leadership Fellow, became the first Indigenous woman to close a Series A funding round of $8.4 million for Virtual Gurus. Her corporation employs over 900 “virtual assistants” for clients across the United States and Canada. Virtual Gurus has a valuation of $40 million, and revenue has tripled since the coronavirus pandemic. Bobbie, as CEO, embraces her indigenous, LGBT+ identity and amplifies employees from historically underrepresented communities. According to Bobbie, “Somebody has got to lead the way, and somebody has got to be first.”
